Get to know your photographer...

Let me introduce myself,

My name is Alecia Watson, the one always behind the lens. I am a mother to a beautiful daughter, a fur momma to 2 sisters, a wife, a home owner, and have had the pleasure to live on Vancouver Island since 2016.

I gained my reputation as a fun, creative photographer after my daughter was born in 2021. She became my first portrait model, and now I have created a business where I capture the real, raw moments of life for those I know and new friends! All my work is known through word of mouth and shared through my Facebook page Island Photography and Instagram page @van.islanderphotographer. I can proudly acknowledge my work has been published in several magazine articles and I have been recognized as a featured photographer on social media and around Canada. I cannot thank the community enough for all the kind words and encouragement through my journey.

My goal as a photographer is to please my clients with a personable experience. You will find my work will always have an artistic/ creative flair to showcase each session as unique. I like to think my editing style is very "me" (Bright, bold and very colorful)!

When you are in front of the camera, it can be a little intimidating at first. I like to create my best work with movement. Fun prompts, or activities help bring out those natural smiles and shake off the nerves. So don't focus too much on forcing those smiles, and instead enjoy the experience you are creating. I love creating new friendships with my clients, so chances are, when you schedule a session you'll hear from me again in a friendly manner.
